Frequently asked questions
About care
Is home birth safe for me?
Home birth is a safe, well-supported option for low-risk pregnancies, which is who this practice serves. Your health is assessed at consultation and at every prenatal visit, so home stays the right setting throughout.
What happens if I need to transfer to a hospital?
You'll know the warning signs, transfer criteria, and hospital plan before labor begins. If a transfer is needed, it happens calmly as part of a prepared plan, and Catrice coordinates the handoff.
Who will be at my birth?
Catrice, and a trained birth assistant. Your partner, family, and kids are welcome too.
Do you work with teen parents?
Yes. Always. You'll be treated with the same respect and care as every family here.
What's the difference between an LM and a CPM?
An LM is licensed by the State of Texas to practice midwifery. A CPM is a national certification for midwives who specialize in out-of-hospital birth. Catrice holds both.
About booking
When should I book?
As early as you like. Spots are limited each month, so earlier gives you more choice. It's also not too late if you're further along.
What areas do you serve?
Serving families across the greater Houston area. Classes are based near The Woodlands (77380).
Can I just take a class?
Yes. Classes are open to everyone, whether or not you birth with Catrice.
